Jupitercow is really excited to add this simple plugin to the Wordpress community. Enhanced Search Box adds an improved functionality to the Wordpress search box and allows you to edit the default search text from the admin panel.

You can see the Enhanced Search Box working on this site, and, for another example, you can see it working on the Website of photographer Randy Tay.

Check out the Enhanced Search Box page for more info and to download.

It may be simple, but it has a nice impact.

We are excited to release WP sIFR to the public in the Wordpress Plugin Repository. Now any font can be easily added to a Wordpress installation in a matter of minutes, and look nearly uniform across browsers and operating systems.

sIFR, which stands for “Scalable Inman Flash Replacement” and was pioneered by Mike Davidson and Shaun Inman, is currently managed by Mark Wubben at Novemberborn. sIFR uses Javascript to unobtrusively add specially created flash files to a site using CSS style selector navigation in order to replace basic universal screen fonts with any font you choose and have it show up nearly the same across browsers and operating systems. sIFR also keeps most basic styling information and links remain active and able to be styled.

WP sIFR builds a bridge between sIFR and Wordpress, allowing a site owner to easily add any font to their Wordpress installation. Depending on your server setup, sIFR, which has a bit of a learning curve anyhow, can have a varying amount of complication involved in setting it up on a Wordpress site. WP sIFR automates the whole process once a font has been created and uploaded. When you login into the WP sIFR settings panel, the font will be waiting. From there, you can add the selector to replace (e.g. “H2″), and customize the CSS styles. Once everything is set, simply activate the font.

Creating fonts is easy using services such as sIFR Generator, or create them locally using the included Flash file. Better yet, download a pre-made font at the sIFR Vault!

More plugins to be released in the near future include Enhanced Search Box and Get News.
